What Is A Workstation

A workstation is a computer that makes requests of servers for resources and access to files, data or applications stored on the server, which then grants or denies access to these resources. Workstations were originally "dumb terminals" that connected to and requested resources from a mainframe computer.

Monitor

All workstations have LCD monitors so you can see, edit and enter data into the system.

Keyboard

The workstation keyboard can be a standard keyboard or a specialized one, depending on the assigned use of the workstation.

Memory

Workstations can have as much memory as needed by the specialized applications they are designed to run.

Hard Drives

Workstation may have hard drives, depending on the particular needs of the organization in which the workstation is installed.

Mouse

A mouse is a standard input device necessary to navigate the graphic user interface of most standard workstation operating systems.
