Since the release of Intel's Core series processors, the Pentium brand is now a basic, entry-level package just above the Celeron in speed and features. However, like the Core 2 Duo T6400, the Pentium T3400 is a dual-core CPU.
Clock Speeds
Both the Pentium T3400 and the Core 2 Duo T6400 are dual-core processors. The Pentium T3400 runs at a slightly higher clock speed of 2.14 gigahertz (GHz) per core, while the Core 2 Duo T6400 runs at 2 GHz per core.
Bus Speeds
Despite the T3400's faster clock speed, the Core 2 Duo CPUs are better processors for a reason. The T6400 runs at a bus speed of 800 megahertz (MHz) in comparison to the T3400's lower 667 MHz.
Level 2 Cache Sizes
The Level 2 (L2) cache is a place where processors temporarily store information to be processed, speeding up performance and making them more efficient. The T3400 CPU's L2 cache size is 1 megabyte (MB), smaller than the T6400's 2 MB cache.
Socket Type
Both the T3400 and T6400 are mobile processors meant for laptops. They use socket P, a 478 pin socket type different from the socket 478 type used in older desktops.
