A video card eases the burden on you CPU.
NVIDIA released the GeForce 9400 GT in August of 2008. According to the company, the video card's PureVideo engine displays vivid photos and plays high definition video without stuttering. It performs twice as well as a comparable card from the company's 8-series of GPUs.
Engine Specifications
The GPU contains 16 CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) cores, which means it includes two streaming multiprocessors. The processor clocks at 1.4 gigahertz, clocking in graphics at 550 megahertz. It fills 4.4 billion textures per second.
Memory Specifications
The card contains 512 megabytes of video memory running at 400 megahertz. It offers a memory bandwidth of 12.8 gigabytes per second.
Feature Support
GeForce 9400 supports Microsoft DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2.1. It offers NVIDIA CUDA technology and high-definition NVIDIA PureVideo technology. It works with Windows 7.
Display Support
The card offers a maximum resolution of 2560 by 1600 and a maximum VGA resolution of 2048 by 1536. It contains two DVI ports, so it supports dual monitors, and an adapter lets it support HDMI.
Thermal Specifications
The graphics processor consumes a maximum of 50 watts, so NVIDIA recommends a minimum system power of 300 watts. It reaches a maximum temperature of 105 degrees Celsius.
Size
GeForce 9400 occupies a single graphics card slot. It measures 4.376 inches by 6.6 inches.
