Intel S3000ah Motherboard Specifications

Server motherboards provide features that regular motherboards do not.

The Intel S3000AH motherboard is designed for use in network servers. This particular board is an entry level motherboard that features modestly advanced hardware. The S3000AH supports a variety of Intel processors and includes support for dual-core processors. This board also provides enhanced LED functionality that is used to display diagnostic information related to the Power On Self-Test that runs every time the S3000AH is booted. This motherboard also provides four-pin headers for four system fans and one processor mounted fan.

System Memory

The Intel S3000AH Server Motherboard has 4 DDR2 memory slots capable of holding up to 8 gigabytes of RAM. This board only supports DIMM modules rated at 533 or 667 megahertz. Using memory modules rated at 667 MHz this board can attains speeds of 4.2 GB/s per data channel or 8.4 GB/s when in dual channel mode. The S3000AH has two DDR2 data channels capable of supporting two pairs of RAM modules that are either 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB or 2 GB in size.

Supported Processors

The S3000AH supports a plethora of processors from Intel. According to the Intel's Technical Product Specification Sheet, the S3000AH includes support for: Xeon 3000 and 3200 series processors, Pentium D, Pentium Extreme, Pentium 4 and LGA775 Celeron D processors. This motherboard also supports processors using dual-core technology, hyper-threading and Intel Extended Memory System 64 Technology which is also known as Intel EM64T.

Data Ports

The S3000AH motherboard also provides users with two kinds of data ports to facilitate server operations. One of the two types of ports includes a pair of rear-panel USB 2.0 ports. These ports are counterbalanced by a second pair of USB 2.0 headers that allows the user to add a second pair of USB 2.0 ports to the front panel. The second type of data port included with this motherboard is a 24-pin SSI connector mounted on the front panel. This type of port is commonly used to communicate with industrial or commercial equipment.

Storage

The Intel S3000AH motherboard supports up to four drives using the Serial ATA standard and two drives using the ATA-100 standard on a single IDE cable. The 4 Serial ATA drives support transfer rates of up to 3.0 GB/s on each of the four ports provided on the motherboard. This motherboard also provides an on-board RAID controller for users that want to put their hard drives into a RAID configuration.
