Nvidia released its Geforce 6 series in April 2004. The major advancement introduced was support for PureVideo utilized in post-processing in video, SLI technology, and support for Shader Model 3.0 in order to comply with both OpenGL2.0 and Microsoft DirectX 9.0c qualifications.
6150 SE Foundation
The Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE, also referred to as C51, was introduced as a chip set on motherboards for those with integrated video. The alternate option is to have a standalone graphics card that plugs into an expansion slot such as AGP or PCI-express. The 6000 series faces off against Nvidia's competitor, ATI, competitively. Benchmarks conducted show that the performance levels are equivalent to or better than the ATI RS480.
Motherboard Specs
The motherboards that use the 6150 chip set come in two different configurations. They both have eight USB ports at 2.0 speeds, two parallel ATA ports and sound integrated directly on the motherboard which eliminates the need for an external sound card. The two differences lie with the speeds for the Ethernet. The nForce 410 only supports 10/100 Ethernet speeds and has two SATA ports. The nForce 430 supports Gigabit Ethernet speeds and has four SATA ports, doubling the capacity for optical drives.
Extra Supported Features
High-definition video playback is a top selling point for the 6150 SE. The resolution is optimized at 1920x1440 pixels with the VGA connection. Memory speed is DDR2 but is shared with the memory used by the operating system as well. The SE model performs better than the 6150 alone, even with a lower clock speed of 425 MHz, instead of the prior 475 MHz and uses less power.
