Intel's Centrino processor is a central processing unit, or CPU. A CPU performs many of the main functions on a computer. It retrieves instructions in a mathematical format and decodes and executes the instructions. The speed at which the CPU operates is directly related to the overall speed of the computer.
3MB Smart Cache
The Intel Centrino processor has a 3 MB smart cache. A smart cache system allows the computer to transfer information between different servers. Smart cache system speeds up Internet download and wait times, by helping to prevent servers from becoming bogged down or overloaded with simultaneous requests from multiple users.
1066 Front Side Bus
The Intel Centrino Processor has a 1066 front-side Bus, which may make multi-tasking on your laptop or notebook quicker and easier. The bus carries signals from your computer's central processing unit to other areas of the computer. The front-side bus carries information from the CPU to your computer's memory. The faster the front-side bus can transfer signals, the faster your computer will run.
Longer Battery Life
The Centrino Processor has an intelligent power capability built in. The company calls it Deep Power Down Technology. This technology extends battery life for mobile device users, enabling them to stay unplugged for longer periods of time. The Intel Centrino Processor also has integrated Wi-Fi, which the company states is up to five times faster than what is currently being offered.
