Power Requirements For Asus Motherboards

Asus is one of the world's leading manufacturers of computers and computer components, including motherboards. Each series of motherboards is fully supported by Asus with both included driver CDs and website support. Asus motherboards follow such industry standards as processor support, form factor and power requirements.

ATX 24-Pin Connector

Every Asus motherboard requires an ATX power supply that provides a 24-pin main power connector. Some older power supplies only use a 20-pin connector, which is inadequate.

ATX Four-Pin 12V connector

Asus motherboards also require a standard four-pin 12V ATX connector. ATX power supplies have an extra four-pin 12V connector that provides additional power to the motherboard.

Wattage

Asus motherboards require ATX power supplies that provide 200 watts or greater power. Higher-class Asus motherboards may require 400 or more watts to operate effectively. Nearly all ATX power supplies made after 2007 provide 400 or more watts of power.
