You may not realize that the hardware on your Windows computer needs regular updates. If you notice glitchy graphics, your video card may need a driver update. If your computer's generally running slow, you may need to check if the processor needs an update. The same idea is applied to ethernet cards.
For NVIDIA specific cards, the NVIDIA website offers driver updates but none specifically for an ethernet card. The driver update from the NVIDIA site, if you want to update your ethernet driver, is for a whole NVIDIA motherboard. Of course, you can have a NVIDIA ethernet card on a motherboard that is not NVIDIA brand. So using the Device Manager is the best way to update your driver.
Instructions
1. Click on the "Start Menu" and right-click on "Computer." This will bring a drop-down menu of option.
2. Click on "Properties." This will bring up a system overview.
3. Click on "Device Manager" on the left-hand side of the window under "Tasks."
4. Go to "Network adapters" on the list and click the plus sign to show your network adapter hardware. Here you will see the name of the device, which should begin with NVIDIA.
5. Double-click on the name of the device, and a new window will appear with an overview of the hardware.
6. Click on the "Driver" tab at the top of the window.
7. Click the "Update Driver..." button in the driver tab.
8. Choose to search for the driver software automatically, or if you have a disk, choose to install manually. Choosing to search automatically will scan the Internet and your computer for any updates. The computer will alert you if there are updates available and download them for you. If you wish to install manually you must browse your computer and drives for the information, then it will install what you select.
