The HP Pavilion dv9000 notebook computer has an internal memory card reader for Secure Digital (SD) cards. If you own one of the early revisions of the Pavilion dv9000, however, you may find that certain SD cards work the first time that you insert them in the reader, and when you re-insert them later, the computer is unable to read the files. This occurs because of an issue with the computer firmware, or Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). HP identified and resolved this issue in 2009 by releasing a firmware upgrade for the Pavilion dv9000.

1. Navigate to the download page for the HP Pavilion dv9000 BIOS update. Click the "Download" button and save the file to the desktop.
