The GeForce 9600 GT is a video adapter manufactured by EVGA using nVidia technology. The card has a PCI Express interface and is in the GeForce 9000 family of cards. EVGA produces several cards within the 9600 GT model. These include the 9600 GT, the 9600 GT Superclocked, the 9600 GT KO and the 9600 GT SSC. Technical issues can be common after first installing video cards. These issues can also occur after prolonged use, or if you have had the card for a long time.
Instructions
1. Turn off your computer and open the case. Check your 9600 GT to make certain all required power connectors are connected. The 9600 GT requires a single 6-pin video power connector cable to be plugged into the power port on the back of the card. If you neglected to plug this cable into the port, the card might make a high-pitched noise when you try to turn on your computer.
2. Press down on the top of the card to make certain it is firmly seated in its socket. If the card isn't fully seated, it might not function. You can also try completely removing the card and re-inserting it.
3. Plug your monitor into your integrated graphics adapter if your motherboard has one. Enter your BIOS and make certain that any integrated graphics adapter is disabled. If you have your monitor plugged into your 9600 GT and the BIOS is set for the integrated adapter, then your computer is still trying to output display through the integrated adapter. Make sure to save the settings before exiting.
4. Update your EVGA 9600 GT to the latest available nVidia drivers. If your drivers are out of date, it might be causing hardware or software conflicts. (See Resources.)
