Pentium 2 Vs Pentium 3

The Pentium 2 and Pentium 3 are two types of processor lines that were created by the Intel Corporation. Both lines of processors have different specifications and types.

History

The Pentium 2 line of processor was introduced by Intel in 1997, while the Pentium 3 line came two years later, in 1999.

Types

The Pentium 2 line consists of six family types, including the Pentium Pro, Pentium II, Mobile Pentium II, Pentium II Xeon, Desktop Celeron and Mobile Celeron. The Pentium 3 consists of five family types, including the Pentium III Xeon, Pentium III desktop processor, Dektop Celeron, Mobile Pentium III and Mobile Celeron.

Comparison

The Pentium 2 line consists of 7.5 million transistors on the chip, while the Pentium 3 is made up of 9.5 million to 28.1 million transistors, depending on the family type. Pentium 2 processors are capable of processing speeds that range from 233 MHz to 2 GHZ, while the Pentium 3 ranges from 450 MHz to 2 GHz (2,000 MHz).
