Computer printers stop working when there are driver problems.
DocumentViewer.msi is a file associated with HP computers and printers. Most likely, if you are getting messages about a missing DocumentViewer.msi file, it is related to a recent installation of a printer driver.
.MSI Files
Files ending with the .msi file extension contain installation information for a particular installer, typically installation files and locations.
Document Viewer
As the name indicates, the associated program enables the viewing of documents. In HP environments, this is typically done through HP Image Zone.
Error Message
Usually the error message about a missing DocumentViewer.msi is associated with the HP Image Zone software. However, if you have recently installed an HP all-in-one printer/scanner, the error message may be related to that hardware.
File Location
If the DocumentViewer.msi is not already on your computer, the file can most likely be found on the installation CD for your new printer. Look in the following directory: F:/Setup/documentviewer/Documentviewer.msi, where F is the drive letter of your CD ROM drive. If you do not have the installation CD, see Resources for a link where you can download it (the Image Zone software is bundled with the printer driver).
Solutions
One solution is to uninstall and then reinstall the Image Zone software. You may be able to just insert your HP installation CD into the drive when prompted by the computer to do so and allow the computer to automatically install the file. However, it may be necessary for you to locate the actual file on the disk, double click on it and then select the "Install" option.
