The Toshiba Satellite L305 notebook computer is equipped with a speedy dual core processor that can handle most computing tasks. It offers a full range of multimedia capabilities supported by the strong processor and ample memory. The computer also is easy to transport thanks to its relatively thin dimensions and light weight.
Size and Weight
Although its weight varies based on specific configuration, the Satellite L305-S5933 can weigh as little as 5.49 pounds. It measures 14.3 inches wide, 10.6 inches deep and 1.33 to 1.51 inches thick, excluding the feet that protrude slightly from the bottom panel.
Processor, RAM and Chipset
Powered by the Intel GL40 Express mobile chipset, this computer has a dual core Intel Pentium processor. Both of the T3400's 64-bit processing cores run at 2.16 gigahertz with a front side bus of 667 megahertz and share one megabyte of high-speed Level 2 cache memory. The computer supports up to 4 GB of DDR2 random access memory (RAM), but comes with 3 GB installed.
Video and Audio
The Intel 4500M graphics chip embedded on the Satellite L305's motherboard supports WXGA resolution. This corresponds to 1280 pixels of width and 800 pixels of height on the computer's 15.4-inch widescreen LCD. It has a built-in audio system with stereo speakers, a volume dial and headphone and microphone jacks.
Drives
Toshiba configures this computer with a 250 gigabyte serial-ATA drive rotating at 5400 revolutions per minute. It also has a multi-format DVD/CD drive that can read, write and rewrite on a number of different formats, including double-layer DVDs. The included memory card reader accepts SD, SDHC, MMC, Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO media and also allows you to use flash memory as a drive.
Input and Output
This notebook's standard human interface is an 86-key keyboard with TrackPad, although it also has a built-in microphone and webcam video camera. Network connectivity is provided by a modem, 10/100 Ethernet port and wireless b/g compatible WiFi radio. Toshiba also equipped this computer with a range of connections, including three USB ports, a VGA monitor port and audio inputs and outputs. It also has an expansion slot that is compatible with ExpressCard/34 and ExpressCard/54 formats.
Power
The included 75 watt AC adapter can run on AC power from 100 to 240 volts. It powers the computer and recharges its lithium-ion battery, which consists of six cells and is rated to produce 4000 milliamp-hours. Toshiba claims the battery will last for two hours and 17 minutes.
