Update Bios For Gx260

Place the BIOS file on a floppy disk.


Update the Basic Input/Output System on a Dell Optiplex GX260 if you encounter problems with your system after upgrading hardware or your operating system. Read the details section on the Dell website to see which problems the BIOS update addresses. Dell releases new BIOS updates as needed and supports all Windows operating systems through Windows XP. Use a BIOS flash on your Dell Optiplex GX260 as a last resort for solving problems or only as necessary as updating the BIOS incorrectly may damage your system.


Instructions


1. Insert a floppy disk in your Optiplex GX260.


2. Open "My Computer."


3. Right click the floppy disk.


4. Choose "Format."


5. Press the "Format" button.


6. Visit the download link in the Resources section.


7. Select your operating system.


8. Select the "BIOS" section.


9. Download the latest BIOS update or the update that addresses your specific problem.


10. Choose your "Desktop" as the download location.


11. Double click the update file. Press "Yes" if a security warning appears.


12. Press the "Setup" button.


13. Press "Enter" when the MS-DOS window appears.


14. Press "Y" to copy files to your formatted floppy disk.


15. Press "Enter."


16. Restart your Optiplex GX260.


17.Press any key to boot from the floppy disk.


18. Press "Enter" to start BIOS flash utility.


19. Press "Y" to flash the BIOS. The system restarts when the flash completes.
