Studio 17 Specs

Learn the specs of your favorite laptops before making a purchase.

When asking around about the best laptops, it is hard not to get caught in the middle of a Macintosh-versus-PC debate. While you can get an earful of opinions on what computer is better, it is always wise to research different brands before making the final decision on which laptop to buy. Studio 17 is a Windows-based computer that comes from Dell.

General Facts

The Dell Studio 17 is a standard Windows laptop, in that it has a wide, 17-inch screen. It is slightly heavier than an average laptop at 8.2 pounds. It also has a processing speed of 2.5 gigahertz, 320 gig storage capacity, a rotation speed of 5400 rpm and an 85 watt hour battery life. All of these general features make it pretty average for an Intel Core 2 Duo processing laptop.

Pros

While the Dell Studio 17 functions and operates like an average computer, it has a few features that set it above the rest. One of these features is the Blu-ray disc player, which is not a common find on most laptops. The screen has a WUXGA display, which gives it higher resolution and presents a high-definition image. It also works well with wireless Internet connection. And you can feel free to type in the dark with the cool looking backlit keyboard.

Cons

While it has a processor speed of 2.5 GHz, it lacks available options to improve it. The computer comes with a graphics card with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650, giving it a graphics memory of 256. Many other laptops have better options, with better graphics memory and ability. Due to the lack of expansion available for the Studio 17, the graphics memory cannot be improved.

Style

The Studio 17 is known for having an impressive interior and exterior design. It is simple and understated, not making it to bulky or overbearing. It is also offered in a variety of colors, including silver, black and red.
