My Samsung Tv Has No Power & Is Clicking

A Samsung TV that has no power can be the result of a number of issues. If the TV makes a clicking sound after you press the "Power" button, the source of the problem is more specific. Because these issues prevent or diminish your ability to enjoy the TV, have the TV fixed as soon as possible.

No Power

To try to identify the cause of the lack of power in your Samsung TV, rule out a number of simple, potential problems. First, check to ensure the TV is plugged in. Inspect the power cord to make sure it is not frayed, cut or otherwise damaged. Look at the circuit breaker panel in your home and see if the breaker associated with the TV room is tripped.

Other

If an electronic element of your Samsung TV suffered from a short-circuit, it could result in the TV having no power. Identifying a short-circuit is difficult unless you are comfortable with electronics repair, but taking apart your TV can void the manufacturer's warranty. If you have exhausted the more simple power troubleshooting methods, a short-circuit or an issue with the TV's internal wiring or power supply could be the culprit.

Clicking

Clicking in a TV is often the result of an issue with the TV's capacitor. In a TV, the capacitor relates to the TV's power supply and allows the TV to operate. The clicking noise you hear is the relay for the TV's power supply turning on and off, attempting to get power. Replacing a TV's capacitor is a complicated process best left to a professional.

Repair

When you have an issue with your Samsung TV's power or capacitor, check your warranty to see if these problems are covered under the extended warranty package you purchased. If so, follow the steps outlined in the warranty and contact Samsung to arrange for the repair of the TV. If not, take the TV to an authorized Samsung dealer or a TV repair store to have it fixed.
