Overclocking A Geforce Fx 5200

Released in 2003 by NVIDIA, the GeForce FX 5200 was among one of the entry level GPUs in the GeForce FX series of video cards. The GeForce FX 5200 video card is also manufactured by third-parties such as ASUS, GIGABYTE and MSI. You can increase the performance of your GeForce FX 5200 by overclocking it. NVIDIA has created a free downloadable utility that allows you to overclock any video card in the GeForce FX series right from the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Instructions

1. Download and install "NVIDIA System Tools" (see Resources). Installing "NVIDIA System Tools" also adds "NVIDIA Performance," which is a utility that allows you to overclock your video card.

2. Open "NVIDIA Performance" by double-clicking the "Performance" icon on your Windows desktop.

3. Accept the "NVIDIA Performance" end user license agreement by clicking on "Agree."

4. Click "Device Settings" under the option labeled "Performance" on the left-side of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

5. Click on the icon labeled "GPU" which is located under the "Current Settings" tab.

6. Drag the sliders next to "Memory clock," "Core clock" and "Shader clock" to increase the frequency of your GeForce FX 5200 video card. Make sure that you increase it in increments of 5MHz (megahertz) to 10MHz each time you want to overclock your video card to avoid damaging any hardware.
