Upgrade An Amd Turion X2 Ultra Dualcore

When a CPU is no longer functioning properly or it simply runs too slow for normal productivity, an upgrade is in order. The AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual Core CPU uses a Socket S1G2 configuration and is user-replaceable. Thought this CPU normally resides in a laptop computer, when the laptop is disassembled the CPU can be replaced with an upgrade, as long as the upgrade CPU uses the S1G1 or S1G2 socket.

Instructions

1. Disassemble the computer by removing all of the case screws. AMD Turion Ultra CPUs are used almost exclusively with laptop computers. In nearly every situation, a laptop computer must be completely disassembled to access the CPU.

2. Twist the dark plastic CPU release fastener at the bottom of the socket counterclockwise to loosen the socket's grip on the CPU's pins.

3. Carefully remove the old CPU.

4. Carefully place the new CPU into the socket using the same orientation as the old CPU.

5. Re-fasten the CPU to the socket by turning the CPU release fastener clockwise.

6. Reassemble the laptop by putting all of the screws back in their original places.

7. Power on the computer. The new CPU is automatically recognized.
