Specs For An Asus P5a Motherboard

The motherboard is the brain of a computer.


The ASUS P5A motherboard offers a large amount of versitility for a person building their own computer. It is compatible with a wide array of processors. While the memory and graphics options are limited, connectivity can be upgraded to support USB technology.


Processor


According to the ASUS P5A motherboard manual, there are a number of processors compatible with the motherboard, including the AMD K6 processors, IBM/Cyrix 6x86MX, IDT WinChip 2 and the Intel Pentium 90.


Memory


The level 2 cache memory of the motherboard supports 512KB of SRAM and 1MB of Tag RAM. It has three RAM sockets that are PC100 compliant SDRAM (synchonous dynamic random access memory). The motherboard can support up to 768MB of RAM.


Graphics


The motherboard is fashioned with a AGP slot for graphics or video cards. It does not have any PCI or PCIe slots for graphics or video cards.


Connectivity


The motherboard has IDE connectivity to support CD-ROM drives and floppy drives. It has two UART compatible serial ports and supports optional cables and brackets to support USB and P/S2 inputs.
