Dismantling the LG Laptop is a job that you can complete in about an hour. The LG Laptop computers are very similar in style and system design, allowing you to use the same instructions to disassemble just about any model of LG laptop. Occasionally, you may need to upgrade the laptop to run the latest software. You can use the instructions to dismantle the LG laptop yourself and save the time and money of having a computer technician do the work for you.
Instructions
1. Unplug the power cord of the LG Laptop from the electrical outlet before attempting to dismantle the computer. Detach the AC/DC power cord from the laptop.
2. Turn the laptop over so it is sitting on the face and you are looking at the bottom of the computer. Unfasten all the screws from the base of the laptop with a screwdriver and set the screws in a safe place.
3. Locate the battery pack at the top of the computer and lift up on the tab to remove the battery from the laptop. Lift up the hard drive cover on the lower right-hand corner of the computer and take the hard drive out of the slot by hand.
4. Remove the cover in the center of the laptop and lift out the memory card by hand. Unfasten the two wires that lead to the WiFi card by hand and lift the card out of the laptop.
5. Locate the screws inside the hard drive and battery bays, unfastening the screws with a screwdriver. Turn the laptop back over so it is sitting on the base.
6. Find the plastic tabs on the computer cover at the top of the keyboard and carefully pry the keyboard away from the cover with a flat head screwdriver.
7. Lift the keyboard up enough to disconnect the flat keyboard flex cable from the motherboard by hand. Remove the keyboard from the laptop.
8. Unfasten the screws under the keyboard that hold the motherboard in place with a screwdriver. Separate the cover of the laptop from the base by sliding a flat head screwdriver around the edge until it comes apart.
9. Unscrew the black screws that hold the hinges to the laptop base with a screwdriver and lift the top off the base. Locate the CMOS battery that is plugged into the motherboard and lift it out by hand.
10. Detach the flex cables from the motherboard and remove the frame assembly by hand. Unfasten the screws that hold the cover plate over the heatsink with a screwdriver and remove the plate.
11. Lift the lever up on the side of the heatsink and pull the heatsink out of the motherboard by hand. Find the screws next to the heatsink that hold the CD ROM in place and unfasten the screws with a screwdriver, sliding the CD ROM out of the computer.
12. Detach the wires that lead to the speakers by hand and unfasten the screws that secure the speaker with a screwdriver, taking the speakers out of the computer.
13. Lift the motherboard out of the LG Laptop base.
