Testing the GeForce 8600 GT video card against similar cards, TechSpot found that it underperformed--even when put up against the GeForce 7600 GT, which it is meant to replace. Testing was done by measuring the frame rate or number of complete screens drawn per second while playing very demanding action games. A higher frame rate makes game play smoother and is therefore desirable.
