Where Is The Serial Number On The Asus Striker Extreme Motherboard

Designed for the performance market, the ASUS Striker Extreme motherboard was first released in late 2006. It offers features specifically for gamers and overclockers, including detailed BIOS options, 8-phase capless power and several on-board gaming features. As of February 2012, the Striker Extreme can be found primarily in older game computers. If your motherboard begins to show signs of a fault, you may need its serial number to fix the problem.

Special Features

The Striker Extreme features an onboard LED that allows you to install components and see the motherboard without need of a flashlight. It also includes a heat-pipe design to keep components cool and an Extreme Tweaker function that allows you to adjust frequency, over-voltage and memory timing. The Striker Extreme also includes an EL I/O that lights up the I/O panel to make plugging in new devices easier.

Finding the Serial Number

Finding the serial number on an ASUS Striker Extreme motherboard is easier than on many other boards, since the onboard LEDs reduce the risk of shadows obscuring the information. The serial number is printed on a white sticker with a bar code, located between the CPU heat pipe and the four memory slots to the right of the motherboard. It is a 12-digit number containing some alphabetical characters.

ASUS Striker II Extreme

The ASUS Striker Extreme motherboard was replaced in early 2008 by the Striker II Extreme, an updated version of this gamer-centered board. Like the Striker Extreme, this motherboard uses a Socket 775 CPU and includes a wide range of features targeted toward gamers, such as the thermal Fusion Block System and tunable energy processing unit. This motherboard's serial number is located slightly closer to the CPU than that of the Striker Extreme, but is otherwise very similar.

Warning

Opening your computer carries some risk of electrical shock, both to you and to the components inside. Always disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet before examining the motherboard. If you must install or uninstall any devices on the motherboard, fully disconnect their power cables before you remove the signal cables. If you don't feel confident about your ability to handle your motherboard on your own, get the help of an experienced professional.
