The XFX comes with several output options including DVI-I Dual Link, analog VGA and S-Video out. Driver support includes DirectX 10, NVIDIA SLI with Open GL optimization and support. Before purchasing the GeForce 8600 GT, it is a good idea to check motherboard compatibility with PCI-Express slot support.

Instructions

1. Power off your computer completely using your operating system's shut down menu. Unplug the power supply cable from the wall or from the back of the computer. Remove all additional cables from the front and back of the computer, except for the monitor cable. Leaving the monitor cable in will help you locate the correct video card port during installation. Unscrew the side panel to expose the internal components of your computer. Touch your hand to a metal surface to remove any chance of static electricity before working on the internal computer components. Move aside any internal cables that might get in the way during installation.

2. Locate your previous video card. If you are not sure where this card is, you can trace your monitor cable to the back of the card. If you are replacing this card, remove it by unscrewing it from the mounting bays. Unscrew the monitor cable from the back of the card. Slide the card out gently and set it aside. Insert your XFX GeForce 8600 GT into any free PCI-Express slot that the card will fit into. Screw in the mounting brackets to secure the card in place. Screw the monitor cable into the applicable port of the XFX GeForce 8600 GT. Rearrange any internal cables that you moved previously and put the computer side panel back on.

3. Plug in all the computer cables. Plug in the power cable. Turn your computer on and let the operating system load. Insert your XFX GeForce 8600 GT drivers CD into the CD-ROM drive. Let the installation setup automatically load. If it doesn't automatically load, double click on your "CD-ROM" drive under "My Computer" to open it. Once it loads, follow the installation steps. Restart your computer for the driver installation to take full effect.
