Transfer An Existing Company In Accounting Professional 2007 To A New Computer

Accounting Professional 2007 is a money management program developed and distributed from Microsoft. Accounting Professional 2007 is easy to set up and can be integrated with other Microsoft Office applications. Accounting Professional 2007also has tools to take your business online, get real-time reports and track bills and costs. After purchasing a new computer, you will have to install a new installation of Accounting Professional 2007 to continue using the program on the new computer. Transfer your Accounting Professional company file from the old computer to the new computer to save yourself the time and effort from redoing everything.


Instructions


1. Open Microsoft Accounting Professional 2007 on the old computer.


2. Start the Accountant Export Wizard. Microsoft included the feature so that you can send all of your files to be imported in your accountant's version of Accounting Professional 2007 so that he can have a copy of your records. You can also use it to transfer your files to another computer. To do the Accountant Export Wizard, click on "File," point to "Accountant Transfer" and then click on "Send Books."


3. Click on "Send books manually" in the first screen of the Accountant Export Wizard and then click on "Next." Select a cutoff date; select the date you first started using Accounting Professional to export all of your company's records. Click on Next. Type in the name of the exported file in "File Name:" field and click on the "Browse..." button to select a location to save the exported file. Click on "Next." Enter in a password in the next screen if you want to secure your exported files and click on "Next." Select a location for your backup file; the program saves a backup file before exporting files just in case something goes wrong. Click on "Export" to finish exporting the file.


4. Move your exported file to a movable storage device, such a USB flash drive, CD-ROM or floppy disk. Right-click on "Start" and then click on "Explore." This opens the Windows Explorer. Click on the folder that contains the exported file so that it shows in the right side of the window. Click and drag the exported file to the drive letter of your movable storage device listed in the left side pane. Or, you can go to the exported file, right-click on it, point your mouse on "Send to" and then click on the drive of the movable storage device to save it on the device.


5. Go to the new computer and insert your movable storage device. Open Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2007. When you first open, a startup screen appears. Click on the "Open an existing company" link under the "Open" group. Navigate to the drive that has your exported Accounting Professional 2007 file. Click on the file and then click "Open." Your company's info opens in the Accounting Professional 2007 on the new computer.
