Upgrade A Netbook Cpu

Upgrading your netbook's CPU results in faster system performance.

Upgrading your netbook's Central Processing Unit (CPU) is a simple task that can be completed in less than an hour by a novice. However, you must find a compatible processor for your netbook--this varies by manufacturer and operating system. Also, be careful when handling computer hardware. Do not lose any parts (such as screws) when working on your netbook as they are generally difficult to replace.

Instructions

1. Turn off your computer and wait several minutes for it to cool down. Remove the outer casing on the bottom of the netbook. This requires you to remove several small screws. Use your screwdriver to remove the screws and store them in a secure place until you are done working on your netbook.

2. Unscrew the screws holding the netbook keyboard in place. Slide the keyboard out of the frame slowly and gently. It is connected on the bottom by some ribbon wire. Undo the latch that holds these wires down and remove it carefully.

3. Remove the existing CPU (it looks like a small square). You need to remove a few screws before it can be removed. Be extremely careful, as it is easy to damage the internal components of a computer. You must disconnect a few wires that are hooked up to the processor. Take your new processor and wire it in the same way that the old one was installed (if the processor is compatible, all the wiring will match up). Replace the screw that holds it down.

4. Replace all the parts you have removed in the reverse order that you removed them. If you have trouble replacing all the parts, refer to your computer's instruction manual.
