Where Is My Bios File With An Asus Mother Board

The BIOS is embedded on the motherboard.

The Basic Input Output System (BIOS) is the software run by a PC as soon as it is switched on. It loads basic controllers for the system drives and input devices.

BIOS Location

The BIOS is stored on a Read-Only Memory (ROM) chip on the motherboard itself, usually labeled with the name of the manufacturer. The documentation supplied with the motherboard or PC indicates where the chip is placed on the board.

Accessing The BIOS

A shortcut key is used to access the BIOS screens before Windows is booted up. On an ASUS motherboard, this usually is "Del" or "Ins." Check the boot up screen, the supplied documentation or the ASUS website if you are unsure which key to use.

Updating The BIOS

ASUS provides a dedicated software tool for updating the BIOS through Windows. This can be downloaded and installed from the ASUS website -- visit the support section and enter the model number of the board to locate the correct software. The latest firmware updates for the BIOS are found at the same source.
