Q6600 Won'T Boot To Bios

The Q6600 is a central processing unit or CPU designed by Intel. If your computer has a Q6600 processor installed and the system is not loading BIOS, you need to troubleshoot the problem. Boot errors are often difficult to diagnose, as the available troubleshooting options are limited. Your motherboard runs a diagnostic program called POST every time you turn on the computer and this often provides a helpful clue. In the case of certain errors, the computer will sound a series of beeps that will help you identify the problem.

Instructions

1. Turn on your computer and listen for a beeping sound. Take note of the number of beeps and whether each beep is long or short. Write down the beep sequence and then turn off the computer.

2. Restart your computer and perform the above step a second time to verify that the computer is reporting the same error.

3. Beep codes are different on every motherboard so you will need to consult the user manual for your system to precisely diagnose the error being reported. For example, if your motherboard uses an AMI BIOS, seven consecutive beeps indicate an error involving your Q6600 processor itself. Once you've identified the problem, check to ensure that the hardware in question is connected securely to the motherboard. If the connection is secure, the hardware component may have failed and will need to be replaced.
