Mobile Processors Vs Desktop Processors

Laptop CPUs typically run cooler than desktop CPUs.

Mobile and desktop CPUs both serve the same essential purpose. They are the brain of a computer--sometimes a desktop PC, a laptop computer or a handheld device.

Requirements

Mobile processors have to fit in more confined spaces than desktop processors and have to use less power because they may often run on limited battery power. Heat dissipation is also more of a challenge in the confined quarters of the inside of a laptop computer than in a desktop.

Applications

Desktop processors vary in performance but are all used in the same basic application. Mobile processors can be more specialized, being used in various types of mobile computing applications including very small portable devices, such as smartphones.

Advantages

Desktop processors usually have more processing power and faster clock speeds than mobile processors, but mobile processors typically draw less power and produce less heat than desktop processors.
